I entered a photo contest on iStock … they want football (soccer) images and the community gets to vote and decide the winner. Please help me out and check out my entry! (Vote for me if you like … ;))
My husband LOVES his cigars. He smokes one just about every day, so I
use the opportunity to take photos! I’ve just started doing this,
really, ever since embarking on Project 365
on Flickr and I needed my photo-of-the-day. He doesn’t really like a
camera pointing at him though, so I try not to be too pushy when I take
photos. I was really happy that he was willing to sit down and smoke in
the garage while I snapped some photos with my light set-up … I think
they turned out okay (I need to get some barn-doors to really get the
perfect look I was looking for).
My friend Amy had a Frisbee thrown in her face on Friday, and I though it would be a great opportunity to get some powerful images with her black eye! She’s never modeled for me before, but we had a lot of fun and the images turned out great! (You know how sometimes you can just see the perfect image in your head before you shoot? It feels soooo good to actually capture it!)
I decided to use this image for the recent TWiP challenge. The funny thing is that the theme they used for this challenge (strength) was suggested by me, but I had no idea what image I would actually take to accomplish the theme. When I thought up this shoot just a few days ago, I realized that it would also fit in well with the challenge!
My friend Amy and her kids showed up yesterday. They are staying with us for about a month until their house is ready to move in to. It’s really good to see them … she’s such a good friend, and her kids are a joy to be around. Plus, they are so much fun to photograph! Even Amy is going to be modeling for me … I have sooo many ideas for shoots running through my head now!
I have been meaning to give my photography website a fresh look, and so today that’s what I did! It used to have a much more dark, all-black look to it, but I wanted it to be a bit more refreshing, and light.

My awesome friend Amy is finally moving to California! I've taken so many photos of her kids (the above photo is of her son) and I'm looking forward to spending more time with all of them. We became really good friends while we were both in Hawaii, and it's really a blessing that we can continue our friendship together here as well.
I've really been getting into a podcast and blog called TWIP (This Week in Photography). They have some good info, news, tips, etc. and they even have groups set up on Flickr and a photo contest every-other-week. (They even used my suggestion for the current challenge!) You can listen through iTunes, and also get daily info from their blog. (I keep up with it through their RSS feed in Flock). So check it out!
Another new thing for me is that I recently became a member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) I love it! I'm even attending Photoshop World in September in Vegas (ooh I'm soooo excited!). If you use Photoshop and are not a member yet, I seriously recommend checking out their site and consider signing up ... it's a great deal (only $99/year) and you get free tutorials, tons of discounts and lots of other perks and resources.
For the past few weeks I have been doing "Project 365" on Flickr, where I take one photo per day for an entire year. So, if you're interested in seeing my life, day-by-day, one photo at a time, then check me out! :)
I had a last-minute request to do some photos for a little girl who was having a birthday party this weekend; I guess her mom needed some prints to share with friends. After my long, fun-packed photo-filled weekend (and the thousands of RAW files I need to sort through) my husband thought I was crazy to say yes! Well, it's hard for me to say no to easy photos of cute little kids. :) (Plus I think I got some good images for iStock!)
